He tried to talk to me in the college cafeteria lunch line, but I was not interested. No chemistry.
I sat down to eat, and he came to my table and attempted to talk to me again, but I did not respond much. No chemistry.
We began to have interesting conversations, and I liked him as a friend, but he wanted more. No chemistry.
We walked through the woods with autumn leaves; it was beautiful, but I didn’t have feelings for him. No chemistry.
He sang me love songs; it was so romantic, but I didn’t have romantic feelings. No chemistry.
He saved a seat for me on the bus bound for New York; I enjoyed our conversation but did not feel romance. No chemistry.
He invited me to Hong Kong for the Christmas holidays because that was where he was from, but I hesitated. No chemistry.
I loved traveling and didn’t want to go home, so I went to Hong Kong to see him, but I felt nothing. No chemistry.
He knew I did not have much money, so he arranged for a free place to stay in Hong Kong during the holidays; I was moved, but …. No chemistry.
He knew I didn’t want to go home on another holiday, so he sent a friend to keep me company in my travels; he moved me, but I didn’t feel for him. No chemistry.

We had fun visiting an island, and he said the excursion was especially fun with me; I agreed, but only fun with a friend. No chemistry.
He told me to take my socks off at the beach, and he put his bare feet next to mine; it was romantic, but I did not have romantic feelings for him. No chemistry.
We sat in a Ferris wheel with an older couple who asked how long we were married; he said I had not accepted his proposals yet. I felt bad. No chemistry.
He bought me a ring with two hearts; I refused, but he insisted I take it. I felt horrible. No chemistry.
Thirty-plus years later, he bought me a bracelet with diamond hearts; it was so romantic when he put it on me. I wished I felt something, but I didn’t. No chemistry.
There was no chemistry, but I still loved all our beautiful moments together. It is precious, chemistry or no chemistry.
